The Fire Protection Association has partnered with BSI to give its members access to a free trial of BSI Knowledge, a digital platform providing access to a wide range of national and international standards.
The initiative is intended to help fire safety professionals and organisations manage risk, maintain compliance and stay informed as standards and regulatory requirements continue to evolve.
According to BSI, BSI Knowledge provides access to more than 140,000 standards, including BS, EN, ISO and IEC publications. The platform also includes features such as automatic alerts and tracked changes, helping users identify updates to standards that may affect their work.
For FPA members, the free trial offers an opportunity to explore the platform and identify standards relevant to their organisation before choosing whether to subscribe.
BSI has also introduced a Micro Business Subscription aimed at sole traders, consultants and smaller organisations, recognising that access requirements can vary considerably across the fire safety sector.
Access to current technical standards is particularly important in a sector where fire safety professionals are expected to demonstrate competence and make decisions based on appropriate evidence.
Standards can influence how fire safety systems are designed, specified, installed, inspected and maintained. They also provide an important reference point when assessing whether passive fire protection measures are suitable for a particular building or application.
Firesafe provides specialist Passive Fire Protection services across Guernsey and Jersey, including surveys, design, specification and installation. Its services cover fire stopping, fire doors, cavity barriers, compartmentation, ductwork and dampers, and intumescent coatings.
The company also holds memberships and accreditations including the FPA, ASFP, FIRAS and IFE, supporting its commitment to professional standards and competence.
The FPA and BSI initiative reflects a wider industry focus on ensuring fire safety professionals can access reliable technical information and remain informed as guidance and standards develop.
