Overview

As a Fire Door Installer in the passive fire protection industry, your primary responsibility will be the installation and maintenance of fire doors in various structures to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards. You will play a crucial role in enhancing the fire resistance of buildings by implementing effective passive fire protection measures.

Qualifications / Work Experience

  • Prior experience in fire door installation or related field.

  • Knowledge of fire safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards.

  • Proficient in using tools and equipment relevant to door installation.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and installations.

Required Skills and Attributes

  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a team.

  • Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy doors and equipment.

  • Relevant certifications and training in passive fire protection.

Key Responsibilities

Installation of Fire Doors

Accurately measure and assess door openings to determine suitable fire door sizes.

Install fire doors according to industry standards, manufacturer specifications, and relevant building codes.

Material and Hardware Knowledge:

Possess in-depth knowledge of fire-resistant materials and hardware used in fire door assemblies.

Select and install appropriate door closers, hinges, locks, and other components essential for fire door functionality.

Compliance and Regulation:

Stay current with local, national, and international fire safety regulations and building codes.

Ensure all installed fire doors meet or exceed regulatory requirements and standards.

Inspections and Maintenance:

Conduct routine inspections of installed fire doors to assess their functionality and integrity.

Perform necessary maintenance and repairs to ensure ongoing compliance with fire safety standards.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of all installed fire doors, including specifications, installation dates, and any maintenance or modifications performed.

Generate comprehensive reports detailing the status of fire doors and any corrective actions taken.

Communication:

Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements.

Communicate effectively with clients and building owners regarding the importance of fire door maintenance and compliance.

Quality Assurance:

Uphold high standards of workmanship to guarantee the reliability and effectiveness of fire door installations.

Participate in quality control processes to ensure adherence to industry best practices.

Health and Safety

In accordance with the provisions of the Health and Safety at Work (Guernsey) Regulations, you must take reasonable care not to endanger yourself or other persons whilst at work.

In addition, you must fully co-operate with the Company to enable it to comply with its legal duties. You are required to work to the conditions which are clearly laid-out in the Firesafe, ‘Health & Safety Policy’ document ‘Issue No. 01’ (and any future revisions).
