Overview

This role involves preparing accurate cost estimates, reviewing project specifications, and liaising with suppliers and clients to ensure competitive pricing.

Qualifications / Work Experience

  • Experience as an Estimator, preferably within passive fire protection, construction, or a related industry.

  • Strong knowledge of fire safety regulations, materials, and construction techniques.

  • Proficiency in estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and cost analysis tools.

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and project specifications.

  • A degree or similar in Construction, Quantity Surveying, or a related field (preferred).

  • Ability to work efficiently under deadlines and manage multiple projects.

  • Good communication and negotiation skills to liaise with clients, suppliers, and team members.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in cost calculations.

  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for passive fire protection projects.

  • Analyse project drawings, specifications, and tender documents to determine materials and labour costs.

  • Work closely with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.

  • Assist in the preparation of bids, tenders, and contract negotiations.

  • Conduct site visits when required to assess project requirements.

  • Monitor project costs and support the team in ensuring cost-effective solutions.

  • Collaborate with project managers and site teams to ensure estimates align with project execution.

  • Maintain and update estimating databases, pricing information, and records.

  • Stay up to date with fire safety regulations and industry standards.

Health and Safety

In accordance with the provisions of the Health and Safety at Work (Guernsey) Regulations, you must take reasonable care not to endanger yourself or other persons whilst at work.

In addition, you must fully co-operate with the Company to enable it to comply with its legal duties. You are required to work to the conditions which are clearly laid-out in the Firesafe, ‘Health & Safety Policy’ document ‘Issue No. 01’ (and any future revisions).
